GOLESWORTHY CUP Topsham Town goalkeeper Josh Bray was the hero for his side when he converted the 9th penalty in the regulation shootout to take his team into the semi finals of the Golesworthy cup. Brays opposite number from Tipton St John missed his spotkick so Topsham who had missed their first two penalties eventually won the shoot-out 7-6. Normal time had ended 2-2, 3-3 after extra time with Topsham goals from Liam Pike, Jack O'Neill and Luke Walmsley. Woodbury also reached the last four after a penalty shoot out winning 4-2 at Sidbury. The tie had finished 1-1, Alex Hughes scoring for Woodbury in regular play. Beer Albion beat Axmouth Utd 2-1 in their quarter final. Charlie Clark had the Axmouth goal.
SEATON CUP Feniton beat Budleigh Salterton 2-1 in the semi final of the Seaton Challenge cup with Rob Pfeiffer scoring two first half goals. A weary Budleigh netted a late reply from Richard Higham. Feniton now play either Beer Albion or Seaton in the final on friday May 27th (6.30).
CARLISLE CUP Seaton Town reached the last four of the Carlisle cup with a 4-1 win at Colaton Raleigh. Dan Norman, Ben Ede, Ritchie Durrant and an own goal did the job for Seaton. EAST DEVON SENIOR CUP SEMI FINALS
First division Bow AAC are through to the final of the East Devon Senior cup after they came from a goal down to shock Premier division Alphington 3-1. The Exeter team were pegged back after the break with a double strike from Craig Skinner and a Gavin Coles goal, and Bow will now meet Sidmouth Town in the final yet to be arranged after they edged out Budleigh Salterton 1-0. Andy Thomson was the vikings scorer.
BILL SLEE CUP SEMI FINALS
The Phoenix Club were 2-1 down at half-time against South Zeal Utd in their Bill Slee cup semi final, but hit back to win 4-2. Jonathan Holding scored the first and last goal for Phoenix, with Tom Horn and an Ashley Cummings penalty completing their tally. Harley Cann had both Zeal goals. Westexe Rovers beat fierce rivals and neighbours Culm Utd 2-0 in the other semi final with Josh Dryhurst getting both goals, and the scorer along with Paul Pike was outstanding.
FOOTBALL EPRESS CUP SEMI FINALS
Broadclyst beat Exmouth Town 1-0 after extra time to reach the Football Express Cup final. 48 year old Ian Lock was the matchwinner for Broadclyst who will now face Whipton & Pinhoe for the trophy after they swamped city neighbours Priory 7-0. Mark Langdon 3, Carl Lavis 2, Tom Rowe and Dexter Booth were the scorers.
GEARY CUP SEMI FINALS
Cheriton Fitzpaine shocked Chulmleigh 2-0 in the Geary cup semi final with Mike Back and Chris Acton scoring, Cheriton played really well according to manager Ben Dommett while Chulmleigh felt little went their way. Topsham Town are the other finalists after they won 3-0 at a disappointing Hemyock. Star striker Luke Walmsley with a first half hat-trick won it for the Tops.

Sidmouth Town knocked Ottery St Mary out of the Morrison Bell cup quarter finals with Tim Lister and Rory Weal scoring in their 2-0 victory. In the other quarter final Peninsular League Exmouth Town beat Clyst Valley 6-0, all the goals coming in the second half.

Bow AAC are through to the semi finals of the East Devon Senior cup after their shock 3-0 victory at St Martins on sunday. The Minster Park team could only field ten players, but that took nothing away from the outstanding first division team whose Kieran Stone with two goals and Gavin Coles found the net. The victory earns the mid Devon village side a home date with Premier division Alphington on saturday March 26th as with the other semi final between Sidmouth Town and Budleigh Salterton. Bow also play Loddiswell this saturday March 19th in the semi finals of the Firewatch Devon Senior cup, and if they get through that will be up against either fellow first division sides Barnstaple Town or East Budleigh.
Broadclyst made it into the semi finals of the Football Express cup after coming from a goal down to beat Axmouth Utd 4-2. Matt Day and Ian Lock both scored twice for Broadclyst, Christian Burridge and Charlie Sweetland replied for Axmouth.

Tipton St John are through to the next round of the Grandisson cup thanks to a 5-0 victory at home to Sidbury Utd. Adam Connett 2, Lee Strawbridge, Jody Freeman and Barry Youlden scored. Colyton came from a goal down to beat Farway Utd 2-1, George Moore and Richard Tratt on target, while Lympstone won 4-2 at Kentisbeare after going two goals behind at the break. Martin Loader and 47 year old Phil Owen scored for Kentisbeare. East Budleigh routed Feniton 6-1 in the Carlisle cup. Craig Leaman 2, Dave Evans, Tom Marker, Simon Pearce and Si Tuley had the Budleigh goals.

Budleigh Salterton qualified for the semi finals of the East Devon Senior cup on wednesday after a 1-0 victory against first Division Halwill at Greenway Lane. Halwill really played well but their gallantry was ended by Luke Kelsall who scored the only goal for the robins. Budleigh will now be away to Sidmouth Town in the semi finals on saturday 26th March. The remaining quarter final between St Martins and Bow AAC is this sunday March 13 with the winners home to Alphington also on the 26th.

Westexe Rovers set up a Bill Slee cup semi final clash with Culm Utd after beating Newtown 2-0 after extra time on sunday. Gav Batten and Josh Luxon scored for Westexe. Colaton Raleigh lost their quarter final 3-2 at home to South Zeal Utd who are now paired with Phoenix Club in their semi final both taking place on saturday 26th March. Mark Tett and Ben Farrington scored the Colaton goals.
'Woodbury stormed into the quarter finals of the Golesworthy Cup with a 5-0 win at Feniton. Kev Pitt 3, Alex Hughes and Rhys Perry netted the goals. Topsham Town beat Clyst Valley 4-1 with Josh Bray getting a first half hat-trick. John Dawson also scored with Aaron Sprague netting the Valley goal. East Budleigh won their tie 2-1 against Farway Utd from the Perry Street League with Neil Kearsley and Micky Cope scoring. Quarter final line up: Awliscombe v East Budleigh, Beer Albion v Axmouth Utd, Sidbury Utd v Woodbury, Tipton St John v Topsham Town.
Beer Albion are into the semi finals of the Carlisle cup after a 1-0 win against Kentisbeare.

The Phoenix Club are through to the sem finals of the Bill Slee cup after winning 4-0 at Colyton on sunday. A hat-trick from Ashley Barker paved the way with Jonathan Holding getting the fourth. Phoenix will be at home on March 26 to either Colaton Raleigh or South Zeal who play their quarter final next sunday (Mar 6).
The Geary cup holders Topsham Town are again into the semi finals after crushing the Met Office 6-0. Cory Toth with a hat-trick, Aaron Beecroft, Luke Walmsley and Luke Foster scored for Topsham who will travel to Hemyock on March 26th. The other semi final on the same day is between Cheriton Fitzpaine v Chulmleigh.
Axmouth Utd were three goals down in twenty minutes in their Golesworthy cup preliminary round tie against Lympstone, then recovered to win 7-3. Stuart Akyroyd and Ashley Poynton got it back to 2-3 at the break then Jamie Hughes with a penalty equalised. Further goals came from substitutes Asa Sandman and Joe Berry as Axmouth took charge, with Charlie Clarke and Christian Burridge completing the score. Axmouth's reward is a local derby quarter final at Beer. |
