The Alphas who fielded seven teenagers got their tactics right to shatter their Devon Premier cup heroes of just two weeks ago. Ryan Moody 2 and Nick Westcott scored for Alphington. Newtown goals were Steve Kerswell and Corey O'Donoghue. There was another big surprise at BUDLEIGH SALTERTON where MORCHARD BISHOP were seen off 4-1. SATURDAY 17TH
SATURDAY DECEMBER 17TH
An elated Beer Albion produced what for them was the result of the season as they beached Premier leaders Seaton Town 2-0. It was a brilliant performance by the fishermen who were determined not to let their nearest neighbours and fiercest rivals get closer to their dream of winning the title for the first time. Beer took a first half lead through Luke Bartlett, then defended stoically in a passionate second half. They should have had a second goal cruelly ruled out for offside, but in the dying minutes a brilliant James Melville breakaway goal left Seaton distraught. Beer manager Phil Crabbe was utterly delighted with the team, every player doing his job to the limit. The win also lifted Beer into fourth. Seaton manager Josh Stunnell said his side never got going, but also felt they were beaten by two breakaways.
